Last Sunday, under the sunny skies of Karlsruhe, lacrosse enthusiasts gathered for the much anticipated Game KIT SC Karlsruhe vs PTSV Freiburg. With high-class referees Johannes Kaschke and Anton Schnitzler overseeing the match, and two team known for their long-standing rivalry, the game was set to be interesting.
Karlsruhe Takes the Lead
The game kicked off with a bang! Peer Gitterman (Nr 25) from Karlsruhe fired a laser into the net after less than 60 seconds, and the fans knew they were off to a great game experience today! Sebastian Richter (Nr 40) did not wait long for his first and second goal of the game, and Lovis Hardeweg (Nr 48) and Pascal Stich (Nr 55) added another two to the score. Freiburg fought back with one goal in quarter one, but Karlsruhe’s offense was relentless, and the defence unforgiving. By the end of the first quarter, the score stood at *Karlsruhe: 5, Freiburg: 1*.
Freiburg’s Resilience
As the sun continued to scorch the field, Freiburg regrouped. The second Freiburg goal slipped past the goalie only 54 seconds after the whistle, and another one narrowed the gap even further. But Sebastian Richter (Nr 40), wasn’t having it and scored his third (but not last) goal of the game. The halftime whistle blew, and the score read *Karlsruhe: 6, Freiburg: 3*.
Karlsruhe Extends the Margin
The third quarter was an even game, with great defensive efforts on both sides. This was only interrupted once, Finn Bail (Nr 82) from Karlsruhe, extending the lead to a score of *Karlsruhe: 7, Freiburg: 3*
Karlsruhe seals the deal
The last quarter started, the numerous fans were having a blast (and a Maultaschenburger). Despite the score, Freiburg fought back valiantly. Nevertheless, the game started by yet another goal by – you guessed it – the Player of the Game Sebastian Richter (Nr 40). This was followed by a quick succession of goals by Marius Riedinger (Nr 94), Jakob Müller (Nr 64) and Peer Gitterman (Nr 25) with his second of the game, and getting his name on the score card again, the game close with the final, and his second, goal by Marius Riedinger (Nr 94).
The sunburned fans cheered, the whistle blew, and the game ended with a final score of *Karlsruhe: 12, Freiburg: 3*.
